Statement

I photograph the commonplace: a farm in winter, an empty basketball court, a shed...timeless environments that have lives of their own. I'm intrigued by the absence of presence. Who passed through here? What remains? How does the subject interact with its surroundings? Does a tree look protective of the house it stands in front of? I look for life within the stillness and in doing so hope to preserve the passage of time.

Biography

I studied Fine Art and Art Education at SUNY Buffalo and received an M.F.A. from New York University. I became a painter and a commercial illustrator, followed by a 25 year career in product and textile design. In 2014 I started devoting myself to Photography. It allows all the layers of my creative past to merge together and yet transform into more personal statements that can resonate with the viewer.
